In cooperation with the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties and the City of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, The Salvation Army operates a year-round back-to-work homeless shelter for single men and families. The shelter can accommodate up to 34 individuals at a time. This includes four private family rooms and 18 dorm style men’s beds. The Life Recovery Program teaches responsibility and gives accountability for sustainability as men and families rebuild their lives to become productive citizens in our community. Food, shelter, hygiene items, linens, a weekly Life Skills Class and other needs are met as each person creates an individualized case plan to achieve their goals and to re-establish themselves. Our Life Recovery Program rebuilds lives!

There is a growing population of third shift workers in Rutherford County who live in a homeless state. While their employment is a positive, many workers find they have nowhere to go during their off hours in the daytime. Many end up sleeping in vehicles, on couches of acquaintances, and in various motels. There is an overwhelming need for a true daytime shelter to accommodate the working homeless in this situation. The Salvation Army has opened up its existing facility to this group of men as need has arisen. The men meet weekly with the Director of Social Services to ensure that their employment continues as stated. This program is meeting a glaring need in this community.

Angel Tree gives individuals and partnering corporations an opportunity to adopt less fortunate children and senior citizens and provide personalized gifts and necessities to those who would otherwise receive very little or nothing during the holiday season. Donors can be confident that their gifts go directly, and without excessive overhead, to those who are truly needy since all Salvation Army Angels and are not served by other holiday assistance programs.
